Bahui Hui
Smooth and soft in appearance
Contains holes and pores due to gases released during cooling
Demonstrates ripples or wrinkles resembling ropes or leather surfaces
Dark gray to black, a common feature of fresh basalt.
Approximate mineral composition: Typically contains pyroxene, palladium, and olivine.
This type of lava forms when the lava has low viscosity and flows slowly, allowing for smooth surface ripples to form as it cools.
It is usually associated with relatively quiet volcanic eruptions, such as basaltic volcanoes such as Kilauea in Hawaii and some volcanoes in the Harrat of Saudi Arabia.
They often form in continental rift environments or weak points in the crust, such as the Harrats of western Arabia.
