Rhyolite Porphyry
Classification
felsic igneous rock
color
light gray to dark gray
fabric
Porphyritic: This tissue shows slow cooling first, then rapid cooling.
mineral composition
Quartz, geoclase
Chemical composition
The silica content (SiO₂) is very high, <70%, and it is classified as a felsic rock.
Formation environment
It is formed by the flow of silica-rich lava on the surface and rapid cooling, which is the reason for the fine floor, and the large crystals formed in the deeper stages.
structure
The porphyry texture is clear. It may contain small cavities or a bubble structure if it is within lava.
Uses
1- Study of volcanic systems
2- Decorations (if they have attractive colors)
Geographical presence
It is located in the Arabian Shield in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
